Zeeshan Malik
Attorney at Law

  • I focus on providing practical, solution-oriented counsel in the transactional real estate and business spaces.

I represent clients in all phases of commercial real estate and development, including: acquisitions; guidance through the entitlement process; the structuring and formation of multilayer strategic partnership and joint venture agreements; the negotiation of debt and equity financing; vertical development; leasing; and the eventual disposition of office, industrial, multifamily, hotel, retail and mixed-use assets throughout the United States.

In addition, I serve as outside counsel to small business owners throughout the business lifecycle.

My training at a large, international law firm, together with my diverse client base and experience representing purchasers and sellers, landlords and tenants, borrowers and lenders, and business operators allows me to provide a balanced understanding that is key to successful negotiations.

  • I am a proud Austinite – born and raised – and my wife and I are grateful for the opportunity to raise our daughter in this growing town.

In my view, collaboration is the path forward – the greatest things in my life involve teams and teamwork. I’ve been lucky to find a path that fosters teamwork and depends upon collaborative-minded individuals coming together to form well-rounded teams to produce the greatest outcomes for our community.

I am a father and partner, and I am the son of Indian immigrants. Before law school, I was a Peace Corps volunteer, living and working in a coffee community in the mountains of rural Nicaragua. I am a distance runner and an active member of the Austin running community.

I believe the future of Austin is incredibly bright – I am grateful for the opportunity to advocate for our community, our city and for the future of both.

  • Thoughtful Development Partners is a development practice that approaches the home building process differently. We started with the fundamental questions of: What does it mean to build a better home? Can homes be built with a lower carbon footprint? Can homes last longer and be more resilient to a changing climate? Can homes within the current price points provide a better quality of life for the people who live in them?

We believe that with thoughtful, intentional design and construction, homes can last longer, leave a lighter footprint, and make the occupants more in tune with the building that gives them sanctuary from the outside environment.

TDP seeks to redefine current building language and provide a model of intuitive, forward-thinking construction that can influence the future of building. We understand that a home is not just a place to live – it’s also an investment in your future. We believe there is a moral, financial and physiological imperative to design differently and build better.

  • As we move toward 2039 – the 200-year anniversary of Austin’s founding – Onward! Austin Ventures brings together community leaders and advocates to shape collective conversation. We believe Austin has the potential to be an international thought leader on par with the most influential cities of all time. The key to unlocking sustainable, long-term growth and success for Austin is collective and collaborative communication, recognizing Austin is the 10th largest city in the US and we’re growing every day.
